About The William Weber Memorial Trophy Specials

Once again, we will be honoring the indomitable spirit of William “Bill” Weber (1929-2010) with our William Weber Memorial Special competitions. Father of Allison Weber Erickson, ADCRG and grandfather of Irish dancers - Karyn, John, Rachel, Mary, and Anna, Bill was a welcome face at both the Queen City Feis and Cincinnati Feis over the last three decades. A typical German-Irish Cincinnatian and the ultimate feis dad (before that term was ever coined), Bill volunteered his time and energy by building stages, working the admissions desk and handing out awards to hard-working and talented competitors. Bill lost his battle with MSA (Multiple Systems Atrophy), a debilitating neuro-degenerative disease that has no cure, in October 2010. While our hearts will always miss him, it is our privilege to honor Bill with the William Weber Memorial Specials so that his presence remains a part of the Irish dancing community in Cincinnati for decades to come.

The William Weber Memorial Trophy Special competitions are offered for Preliminary & Open Championship dancers.  Dancers may enter either or both competitions for their age group.  Soft Shoe is one step (16 bars) down the line of either Reel or SlipJig.  Hard Shoe is one step (16 bars) down the line of either Treble Jig or Hornpipe.

Proceeds from the William Weber Memorial Specials will be donated to fund MSA research.
